Upgrade Time from Lucid Lynx to Linux Mint Debian Edition

Finally time to upgrade from Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx (see http://mubui.blogspot.com). I'm making the jump to Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE).

I'm starting with LMDE 201303 64-bit edition. Used http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/ to create a USB installer of linuxmint-201303-cinnamon-dvd-64bit.

Booted off the USB and ran gparted to create 3 partitions:
3072 mb swap (swap)
20480 mb root (/)
the rest as home (/home)

Install went without issue. No proprietary video drivers nvidia corporation g86m [quadro nvs 135m] or broadcom corporation netextreme bcm5755m gigabit ethernet pci express (rev 02) found via Preferences > Device Driver Manager.  This means no wifi, only wired network.
